I think, by now, you can see how confusing this spreading over multiple
threads is. I've posted an answer in another location, and others have
probably posted the same answer in other threads. The location you mention is *not* the location of your profile, its the
program files. You'll find firefox.exe, the executable in there too.
The defaults folder contains the default files that are inserted when a
new profile is created. That might very well account for
One of two things would seem to have happened: 1)Your bookmarks, html
file was so corrupted that Firefox created a new one from the default,
or 2) Firefox created a new profile on you.Go to Start>>Run, and type firefox.exe -p into the field, note the
space, it is important. That will open Profile Manager, If you see more
then one profile listed, start in each one, and see if you can find the
one that has your bookmarks. If there is only one, click Create Profile. In the wizard click next,
the look for:"Your user settings, preferences, bookmarks and mail (sic) will be
stored in"And it should give the default path for profile location on your
machine. It should be something like:C:\\Documents and Settings\(username)\Application
Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\Cancel out of the wizard, unless you really want to create a new profile. You should then be able to navigate to that location, find your profile
and thus the bookmarkbackups folder to restore your bookmarks. The only reason your old profile would be stored somewhere other then
where the new one would be created, would be if you inteneionally moved
it somewhere else, in which case none of us can help you.Lee
