Video game developer Digitalmindsoft announced Call to Arms on their website in December 2012, calling it the "true successor" to the Men of War series.[5] The developer saw an opportunity to develop a real-time strategy video game set in the modern day, especially with the gameplay common to the Men of War series.[6]
